Water Lily VII.
|
80x80x2 cm / oil and acrylic on canvas The paintings from this collection were inspired by Claude Monet's beautiful impressionist paintings of water-lily ponds. His play of light and shadow is enhanced by Sarah's original relief technique, giving all the more space to the colours. Thanks to her beloved oil paints, the vibrancy of the colours is as intense as on a beautiful warm summer's day. The artist has long worked with the effect of symbols on our subconscious, and the water lily, even in such a traditional subject, acts as a symbol of purity. Although the flower grows out of mud, it emerges perfectly clean, and its petals even have a special property that prevents a single grain of dust from sticking to them. Meditations on the lotus flower, in which a similar purification takes place in the soul, are well known. The presence of water lilies in a space can have a similar purifying and soothing effect.
